Kasni (Cichorium intybus Linn.) is highly praised in many traditional systems of medicine for medicinal properties its leaves, seeds and roots. It grown Punjab, Kashmir, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka Maharashtra. In medicine, all parts the plant are used as diuretic, laxative, antibilious, antipyretic, blood purification, appetizer strengthen stomach. also treatment hepatic failure, jaundice, intermittent fever mild states chronic skin diseases. contains glycosides, flavonoids, saponins, caffeic acid derivatives, inulin, lactucin, sonchuside A, cichoriolide. The scientific analysis kasni demonstrates activities mentioned Unani literature. Nevertheless, further research needed to identify mechanism, active constituent, usefulness clinical practice. Given encouraging results against neurological disorders prefaces, this aspect should be thoroughly investigated make it a standard medicine.
